Welcome to www.TwirlsForGirls.com!
It’s a wonderful feeling to talk with a friend and have one simple idea turn into something greater than we had first imagined. One conversation that turned into many conversations, emails, and phone calls, made it possible to create “Twirls for Girls”.
Another great feeling? Making something with your time and talent for a good cause. That’s the idea behind the “Make a Difference” campaign we are sharing with you.
Knowing that thousands of dolls are donated each year to the “Toys for Tots” foundation, the team at www.YouCanMakeThis.com wanted to create a place where people could freely download patterns and donate the finished projects to their local Toys for Tots units. Little girls love to receive a new doll, and being able to dress that new doll in sweet new clothes is even more fun!
We couldn’t do this project without the support of the Toys for Tots foundation and we thank them for that. You can read their letter of support below. Thank you Bill Grein at Toys for Tots for your help! I also want to thank Carla of CarlaC Dolly Designs for using her time and talent to make these beautiful free patterns and instructions.
So whether you are new to sewing, or have been sewing for years, we know you will love making these charmed twirl skirts and tops for children in your local area. If you live outside the U.S. or do not have a drop-off location near you, we encourage you to make them and donate them to the sweet children in your own area. No matter where these skirts go, you will certainly help bring a smile to a young child.
We’d love to see photos of your finished projects! Sending in your photos will also enter you into a drawing for prizes provided by our wonderful sponsors. We encourage you to visit their sites and find out what they are all about. Nearly $1500.00 in prizes were donated. We thank them greatly for their support.
If you have any questions, we may have them already answered on our FAQ page. If they are not answered there, you can contact us at info@TwirlsForGirls.com
Thank you for sharing your talent and kindness with others! This is an exciting event and we are thrilled to have you be a part of it!

Wow! This is so exciting! What a fun project and I can hardly wait to get started. Thank you for the inspiration to do something so special this season!
I just got the email about Twirls for Girls and watched the video. I’m just so touched by your kindness and generosity. Thank you so much for doing this for all the kiddos out there. Just more reason to love YCMT!
Kindest Regards,
Lorie
Wow! This is such a great idea. I always want to participate in charity events (especially ones where I get to make things), but don’t always have the time around the busy holidays. I plan and hope to be able to participate in this. I’m going to tell my friends and family too. (Most of us are crafters…and doll fans). I can see this being a big project. I hope you get a lot of support and do this again next year.
Also, I have always wanted to make some of Carla’s patterns. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get them when they were on sale, but now that the money is going to charity I don’t feel bad about paying full price.
Thank you for coming up with this idea and making it a reality. And I look forward to seeing everyone’s creations!
Such a GREAT! idea.. I added a link from my blog so my crafty friends will all know about this!!
